Degas is about 1 year old as of January, 2014. He is very social and loving with people. However, we think he would do better in a home with older children until finished with basic training as he gets so excited when he sees new people. He gets along well with the female he came in with, but may need to be an only pet until he adjusts to an inside life with his family. He was previously an outdoor dog, chained to a tree 24/7. This was in no way a good quality of life for a breed that is known to be extremely loyal to their families. He is also not a cat fan. Our volunteer trainer is currently working with him on a leash and basic commands. He will sit on command already and is already doing better on a leash. Dobermans are known for their trainability and intelligence. He is an active, playful boy looking for an active family. Degas is neutered, has heartworm tested negative and is current on shots, heartworm and flea prevention. If you are interested in adopting, please submit an application at www.richardsonrescue.org.
